review 1: In this eight page story, we see Ash and Meghan's first kiss from his point of view. It was very different from the first time this scene was described by Meghan.I don't like Meghan and Ash as a couple, and I think they'rec rushing into things a bit too fast. Ash knows what would happen to him if he confessed to loving Meghan, and he still did it. And they've only known each other for a few days, which is less than what it takes for most people to even "fall in LIKE" with others, much less fall in LOVE. On the other hand, I really like Ash's point of view. I can't help but wonder what the series would've looked like if he was the protagonist. Sure, the plot would need to be changed a bit, but I find Ash intriguing, and Meghan is just so.... ordinary. Reading this is like wa... moretching a good episode of a bad television show. I anti-ship Meghan and Ash, but The First Kiss was almost enough to make me like them for just a second.
review 2: The YA genre loves to milk a cash cow - so many popular trilogies now have additional novellas or bonus chapters available. There are 10 entries in The Iron Fey series, but only 4 books. But there's no need to slaughter that poor cow. This is just a gratuitous and very silly additional story that should have been included in the first book of this series. Ash kisses Megan and falls completely in love with her. Blah blah. It was nice to read something from his perspective, but it's almost embarrassing to include this as part of an otherwise very good YA series. less
