review 1: (by the way, I don't know why I requested this book from the library. I don't usually read fiction.)The author did a good job with the plot of this book! It was a 'safe' novel. But I didn't think the Christian faith theme was a crucial part of the book. The end was pretty good- forgiveness and such. The author didn't do a very good job with the hero. Like Jane Austen's heroes, he is just every girl's dream suitor- tall, handsome and proud. I really see no reason why he and the girl should have gotten so close...yet suddenly this book becomes a romance. I am disappointed with all the Christian fiction which is being produced. It is so very badly written compared to the works of old. And the romance is so highlighted that it becomes stale. The beauty of the characters is too... more much described, leaving no room for imagination. The reader's mind doesn't really have to work at all. And the reader doesn't come away better equipped for life!
review 2: I loved this book! It was incredible! So romantic, clean, mysterious, and action-packed all in one novel! There is a wonderful Christian theme in this novel that I really enjoyed. The theme does not distract from the story, in fact, the religious theme rather adds to the story. I haven't read a book that made me so enthralled in a long time! I was so interested through the story, and I couldn't put it down! Not to mention, I loved the ending!! This book was excellent! I will definitely be checking out more from this author later!
