review 1: This volume focuses on Nanami's trip to Izumo to try to protest against Kayaka's senseless test, the one that nearly broke her (or exposed her true self...take your pick). This volume also continues some of the plot threads introduced in that arc. There are a lot of reasons to love this volume. I can't give it five stars yet, because the action is so quick that there's not as much depth as I would like. However, it works very well, and Tomoe's reaction to Nanami's effect on his life made me really like him. It's been obvious for some time now that he's kinder than he appears on the surface, and that he cares about Nanami in a way that goes a bit beyond a servant's expected dedication. That much was clear when Nanami demanded (in an earlier volume) to know if he ever though... moret she was cute. So yeah, Tomoe is rapidly becoming one of my favorite guy characters, and I'm really starting to ship these two. This volume also covers Tomoe's past a bit more. And we get to meet a few characters who knew him back then. I'm really curious to see how the next volume handles some of what was introduced.Nanami actually had me cheering for her in this volume. I have a hard time watching her stupidity when it comes to the times she tries to make Tomoe like her -- I couldn't stand the chapter where they go on a "date", no matter how cute the mangaka tried to make it. When it comes to Nanami as a kami, though, I find myself liking her more and more. She's becoming more confident, more willing to stand up for what's right against powerful creatures, and she does it in a way that isn't completely idiotic. And when it is, it's not really her fault. (Her attempt to show the war kami her power had me laughing out loud.)Overall, this series is getting better with each volume. I'm really hooked now, and I hope to start giving the volumes five stars by the time I'm finished with it.
review 2: A bunch of new characters are introduced, each having something mysterious and unique about them. Tomoe cracks me up so much in this volume, his attitude screams "who cares" when really he does care. Can't wait till next volume!SPOILERS::TO EVERYTHING:WARNING:Mizuki wants to explore the human world and wants Nanami to acknowledge him. Mizuki wonders how Kurama is out living in the evil aura of the human world, so he sets to find Kurama. Nanami and Tomoe go to an amusement park. Nanami becomes jealous a lot when Tomoe touches human females, and things go wrong but the end of the day makes up for it all. Nanami needs to attend the izumo, she ends up taking Mizuki with her. Okuninushi(Kami master of oyashiro and Chairman of Kamuhakari) invited Nanami to the izumo because he wants Nanami to go to "Yomotsu-hirasaka"(entrance to land of the dead). Akura needs to obtain his body from the land of the dead(since it's special), and accidentally fallsinto the land of the dead hole. His human body starts rotting away, but Nanami saves him by jumping in the hole with him. less
