review 1: Picked this one up based on the title. Will probably end up reading the rest of the series.This book introduces Finley Jayne, who, with her super strength and strangely fast healing abilities, is a freak who has just gotten fired. Which makes it so strange that Lady Morton wants to hire her at far about the normal wage. And why is her daughter Phoebe engaged to a man twice her age (okay, that part was pretty normal back then, but still)?A fun story, can't wait to keep going.
review 2: This was a quick and interesting prequel novella to this series. To be honest, the only reason I read it was because the e-book I borrowed from the library of The Girl in the Steel Corset had the novella at the beginning as a bonus. I don't have anything against novellas, I just h... moreave so many books on my TBR list that unless I LOVE a series I'm not really going to go out of my way to read accompanying novellas.That said, this was great. There was no info dumping to set up the world and the action was nonstop from start to finish. This could have easily been made into an entire novel itself. Now that I'm reading the first actual book in the series, I'm glad that I read this first because the book switches perspectives. So the novella Abe me a chance to get to know and appreciate Finley as a character before getting to know other main characters who will come into play throughout the series.I'm excited to see where this goes. Finley is a badass character who kicks serious ass (when there are asses needing kicking). I am excited to become more immersed in this world and series. less
