review 1: I can't believe I let this sit on the "to read" pile for so long! Absolutely loved it - not really read much steampunk but is totally up my alley, so not sure why I didn't get onto this one sooner. The characters were all quite interesting, and I felt engaged with the relationships and how they would progress. This didn't feel like a run-of-the-mill book, as there were various characters making an appearance and adding to the storyline without making it too complicated (can be a struggle when you need a reference guide beside you to recall the backstories and implications). I didn't want to put it down, and despite the lack of closure on some of the relationship questions, I didn't feel cheated, just pulled towards the next book to continue with the storyline.Already on to... more the next one!
review 2: This is an entertaining read set in victorian England with steam punk elements. The main character, Finley, is quite likable, as are the the other supporting characters. Finley, is an independent, intelligent, and strong female character, that never needs saving, in fact she does most of the saving. The machines prove interesting with a story I hope is further developed in the next books. If you are looking for a fun steampunk novel with a dab of romance, this is the book for you. less
