review 1: Groundbreaking? No. Inspiring? Yes. One person telling their story of how to find love and happiness, with themselves and the world. A pretty darn important lesson all of us can use a reminder of. The takeaway that we tend not to want to believe is the truth: Love and happiness takes constant work. We can't just glide through, we have to keep up the work to continue the growth and nurturing.
review 2: This book has such a simple yet powerful message: Love yourself like your life depends on it...because it does. Kamal proved his point when he was deathly ill. He made a fierce commitment to love himself, and focused on that one thought until he regained his health and happiness. He explains the practice he used (which includes a mental loop, meditation, and one q
... moreuestion) to help others learn to love themselves, too. The book reinforced my belief in the incredible power of our thoughts, and also provided me with a few specific tips I've used. For instance, he mentioned he meditates for 7 minutes a day to the sound of music. I now do something similar, meditating for 9 minutes to Soothing Ocean Surf Sounds. Another simple mind trick (which he attributes to James Altucher) is to tell yourself "not useful" to stop negative thoughts in their tracks. It works! less
