review 1: LeUyen Pham's art is dear, as always, but the story accompanying it is too focused on heady materialism for my tastes. The fact that the girls ultimately don't buy any shoes at all doesn't change that. Is there anything more decadent (and, frankly, obnoxious) and blindly materialistic than going to a store, making a huge mess and dominating the clerks' time, and then leaving without spending a cent? Skip this nonsense.
review 2: I stopped to see my nieces and I was asked to read this book to them. How could say no to them? The story is about four friends getting ready for a party but are in need of shoes. They head to the shoe store where they proceed to try on all types and style of shoes.My nieces loved pictures and all the dresses. Even the cover with the... more glitter they enjoyed.It was written in a rhyming fashion which made it easy to read and follow.4 stars less
