review 1: There is plenty of the dizzying action that comes along with Cassie's life, as an entity tries to kill her on the 'eve' of her formal induction as Pythia. A date from hell with Mircea, gives Cassie an insight into her own heritage and a clue as to what her powers could be - since she's never been trained. Getting a chance to see what's possible is going to help, as is a discovery that hopefully will let Cassie stop holding her self back.I am late to the party with Hunt the Moon and catching up for the next book (which is already out.) I liked this - it was action packed and plenty of Mircea and Pritkin. I have been team Pritkin along - the tight control of the grumpy mage appeals to me especially now that we know his secret and what simmers below that control. That said... more Mircea is very yummy in this book and he and Cassie get some nice face time during a 'timeout' but I still have issues with the power imbalance between the ancient vamp and the newbie Pythia, mostly because of all of the vamp power games and the fact that Mircea still tries to exercise his control and treat Cassie as 'servant'. Still the question "Pritkin or Mircea?" is still in play. Coming in I knew that Hunt the Moon ended on a cliffhanger - which is why I waited until the next one was out - so that wasn't a huge issue for me, though apparently the next one ends on a cliffie too so that strategy may have been for naught. Now I need to decide if I am going to actually start the next book now - and avoid the big hurdle that I always face of coming back up to speed on Cassie and her world - or put the Tempt the Stars on the pile until the next book comes out.

More Pritkin scenes, finally! I resent all the scenes Mircea is in now because it takes time away from Pritkin.Couldnt stand Mircea in this book, he was way too controlling and it was not endearing at all. Although I think we're supposed to think it is caus of his 'emotional reveal' to Cassie. Its not a healthy relationship, Cassie tries to stand up for herself and then he just distracts her with sex and then steamrolls over her, and actually ends up putting her in danger instead of protecting her. At least Pritkin and Cassie talk about their problems and have an actual partnership.Anyway, the ending was OMG, poor Pritkin! And please let Cassie dump Mercia soon so he can go find a woman whos actually suited to him.oh one star taken off because of all the Mircea scenes, more Pritkin please!

The fifth book of the Cassie Palmer series might just be the best one yet. The mixture of action, magic, wild time travel adventures, romance and humour at a great pace that grabs you and pulls you along from start to finish never gets old; and in this one Karen Chance drops a bombshell on both Cassie and the reader that will make both have to reexamine everything we thought we knew about Cassie and her heritage. The end of this one made me veeery glad I waited so long to read this series - now I won't have to wait all that long to get my hands on the next part! 4.5/5
