review 1: I went to the library one day and saw about 20 copies of this book on the shelf so I grabbed one! It was the OMAHA READS book club selection and the author spoke, I believe? or will speak? The author is the sister of a teacher my kids had for kindergarten. It is based in NE (LOVE!) in the 19-teens (LOVE) and examines rural prejudices/stereo-types during wartime. It was lovely! Kudos to another local author!

This is a novel that should be received with wide-spread serious attention when awards are handed out. It is a literary classic without the handle of Midwestern American literature.
