review 1: Do not let the title or cover throw you off this book! Both of those elements are clearly the publisher's attempt to sell more copies.I thought this book was very entertaining and surprisingly funny. The premise is unlike your typical romance novel, which brings a refreshing feel to it all. It also has an excerpt to another series that Hawkins is currently writing, which I intend to check out posthaste.[Note: It only has three stars because it is still a romance novel. No hating. I thought that the reveal of the betrayer and the evil uncle was a little too pat (they had their reasons just doesn't cut it, and eew for the person who chooses the uncle.) The whole time I was reading it, I kept feeling as if I was reading a Connie Brockway romance, maybe because of the Egyptology. I love Brockway. But now Karen Hawkins is going up there with some of my favorite snappy, witty and fun romance authors. less

The story of the couple moves very quickly, but I LOVED the description of the island of Barra.
