review 1: Now this is a hero after my own heart. Angus Hay, Earl of Erroll is a scarred sophisticated man who wants nothing more than to be left alone with his discoveries, but when a woman comes calling asking after a strange artifact-one he's been warned against giving up- he gets anything but solitude. Can Mary Hurst gain this man's trust in order to free her brother? Read it to find out. Will say this much- Mary and Angus will go head-to-head in who can be more stubborn. 3 Stars
review 2: I know, I know, it's Karen Hawkins and she's one of my favourites authors but.... this book doesn't hit right for me. I mean, it was good but not good enough. I don't know what happened actually.... her writing and storyline is just fine but there's something lacking, something that
... more is missing. Maybe because this time round she didn't really concentrate so much on the both characters passions and romance? It's more like an adventure book rather than a romance novel. I don't know.... but this is just how I felt when I finished the book. Sure, it has its good parts like how funny they were that they are always constantly arguing and bickering at each other but there seem to be more of that rather than kissing. And sure, there's also aplenty of physical attraction going in between them but.... only feelings and very less action. I wish there's more on both sides so it will balance the story nicely. And yes, I'm disappointed that there's only one love scene! Hmph! Come on, Karen, you can do better then this, I know you can. For the characters in the book, they're just fine and I don't find any fault in them at all. No, really, I don't. I think they're perfectly fine and they didn't went overboard at all and I do really like them. Maybe there's one minor annoyance but it is easily remedied and besides, since Karen Hawkins wanted it to be that way then who am I to tell her off about that particular annoying detail about her heroine and Kiera? All in all, it was a fun read and it was quite enjoyable. I recommend you guys to read this.:)Bon week-endFira less
