review 1: I struggle to know how to rate and review this one. It was a gift, and not something I would have chosen for myself. Romantic crime is not a genre I even knew existed! I'd call it a well written crime novel plus pretty graphic (well written, but no "fade to sunset" here) sex scenes. If this is your thing, it's a good example of it. I doubt I'll read another because of the disturbing dreams that ensued from the kidnap/sexual assault related plot. But I understand why Karen Rose would have a cult following. Just don't read it before bed.
review 2: I both enjoyed the book and was frustrated by it. They mystery part was very good, a tad confusing sometimes, and it took some time for it to come together, but it did surprise me a couple of times which isn't easy. ... moreThe frustration came from the 'romance' part of the book. Ugh! It was the standard 'he loves her but is afraid to tell her, she loves him but is afraid to tell him' scenario. Just say and get it over with and get on with finding the bad guys! less
