review 1: I quite enjoyed this foray into apocalyptic zombie world, though in general I’m not a fan of zombie stories. Sure I like the occasional movie, but books make it a little too real for me. That being said, this wasn’t overly gory and the focus was on Riley and Graham. I liked the characters, liked the story, and enjoyed the 'I will find you, no matter what' moments very much. I do wish that this author had explored two points though: Graham and Riley have been holed up for three months (if i recollect correctly) and during all that time Riley thought Graham was straight/not interested. Now ‘all a sudden’ he reveals not only is he not straight, he's really, REALLY into Riley which throws both Riley and the reader for a bit of a loop. Wish this had been delved into a l... moreittle more. It was skimmed over but not addressed to my satisfaction. Also, I wish Riley’s kinks were explored a little more! He's into guyliner, nail polish and grabs a pair of fishnet stockings before he's reunited with Graham after they're separated midbook. Would love a bit more o’ that! Otherwise, great book; short but well done!
review 2: Everything in this story is designed to get your heart pumping. From the shuffling hoards of the undead and the dangerous predatory survivors, to Riley and Graham's sizzling chemistry both in and out of bed, you won't be able to help squirming in your seat or hanging on to the edge of it. I already love zombies, whether mixed with strippers, Simon Pegg, or Daryl Dixon, so this one was already a three-star read just for the undead factor. But toss in an adorably vain but surprisingly capable Riley and a yummy, ripped retired Navy tough guy with a romantic streak Graham, and I'm all apoplectic with joy and going, "You get 5 stars! You get 5 stars! Everybody gets 5 stars!" ala Oprah while facing my Kindle.A thrilling and totally satisfying read that is completely awesome all on its own, but will definitely be even more so should Kari Gregg decide to give us a sequel. Because Riley and Graham in zombieland? I haven't had nearly enough of them yet. less
