review 1: Ok I liked this, was not really sure about it but the good reviews made me give it a chance. I am not sure what to say, I enjoyed it well enough, wanted to see what would happen next. The premise was somewhat interesting to me not being a reader of the shifter, werewolf stuff really not familiar with the world. I was glad to have the points however thin to base otherwise somewhat incomprehensible or just silly actions and mindsets.
review 2: Something is missing for me with this book.This is one of those mate bonding shifter's instant love story. While I don't mind the mate bond theme, I don't feel like the characters really got to know each other. Gabriel spent most of the book alternating between being hysterical or clingy (or both at the same time!) I jus... moret couldn't figure out what Cal saw in Gabriel, but I guess he really likes uber clingy, weepy guys. However, from what other people in the book described Gabriel's eventual role in the pack, Gabriel (as we know him) sure doesn't seem like he fits the role that Cal wants him to be in.Gabriel's personality takes on less of a cringing flower role but it's sudden and only at the end. I don't get the switch. There's no real inkling that he had a personality at all!The story moved quite fast and I never quite bought Gabriel's appeal to other shifter packs. Also, the way he was introduced into Cal's pack was odd but I liked the touch-bonding bits.The sex scenes were not boring at all. It was quite hot and is possibly one of the redeeming qualities of the story.I did enjoy the story. I just questioned the motivations behind the characters. less
