review 1: This book was recently released in English- I didn't realize it is actually the 1st in the series, rather than the most recent. That being said, there is SO much more background info on the main characters here that in later books gets ignored completely. We meet other officers that are never really mentioned in any other books. and skydiving??? who knew?? Of course, like all her other books, this was has a nice little plot twist at the end. I would recommend reading this one 1st.
review 2: Sejer is hunting down the killer of a man found floating in the river, a hunt that leads back to a previous murder of a prostitute. The connection to both appears to be Eva, a local artist and single mother. The story is fairly typical mystery who-done-it. Not particularly v... moreiolent (nothing like Dragon Tattoo) and not particularly deep. But Sejer is a cop with a heart who keeps coming back to a the young son of the murdered man to kind of be a father figure and who clearly feels badly for his suspect. Seem to be some translation issues that occasionally make the novel feel choppy or disjointed. Not much to it but an enjoyable read. less
