review 1: At first I thought this was going to be a lightweight, shallow, if rather enjoyable book. But it turned out to be much more. Very well-written and provocative. The plot was an unusual one that developed very nicely. Personally, I would have preferred some loose ends to be tied up, but it didn't spoil the book for me that it ended as it did. Perhaps this is Fossum's message to the reader as well. less

Another interesting examination of how crime affects the people touched by it. Well worth a read.

Well written and very dark. Not really much of a mystery however.
