Inspector Konrad Sejer
review 1: The first of Fossum's books featuring Inspector Sejer, tho only recently translated into English. I actually enjoyed this somewhat less than her other books, which is not so surprising as she is now a more experienced author. The ending - no, don't worry, won't give it away - is a total surprise, more so even than in most mysteries. The book certainly held my interest, with believable characters, motivations, stories. Less of a feel that we are in Norway, in Scandenavia, than in her other books, and that something I enjoy - the exploration of cultural/regional differences. But a very good read.

... morese. The main character Eva is a divorced mother with a young daughter, is a very poor artist and she seems to have "issues" for lack of a better word. With the death of the man and a prostitute at the same time the mystery slowly unravels. There were a few gripping moments and unexpected twists where I couldn't put the book down but I found most of the time I was quite happy to put the book down as I wasn't totally riveted. Having said that though for a first novel it was really good and I would read more books by this author. less
