review 1: Okay, so I don't usually do book reviews but I'm making an exception for this book. OH. MY. GAWD. This was one of the best books I've ever read. It has action, romance, suspense, and so many twists that you don't see coming. It was a little bit challenging for me to get into, but once I did, it blew my mind.That ending..... whoa! I found it was a mixture of the Covenant series by Jennifer Armentrout and the Hex Hal series by Rachel Hawkens. It had some mythology and witty banter and I loved it. All in all, one of the best books i've ever read and I can't wait to start the second one!
review 2: The opening scene for this book is a cat-fight in the school parking lot. En Medias Res is an appropriate way to start off a book about gods and goddesses. The fight was ... morepretty cool. And things escalate pretty quickly in the first chapter. And then they sort of slump off for a bit and pick up again later in the book. It was an interesting book. A little slow plot wise, but a pretty quick read. There was a lot of mystery that just kept piling up without ever giving any answers so that was annoying. But overall I enjoyed the book. The gods and goddesses you meet are pretty interesting. I especially liked the way Lily developed. She's a plant goddess which sounds pretty tame and you would expect her to be calm and reasonable while everyone else is going crazy. But she's the one that goes crazy and wreaks havoc. So that was a fun un-stereotypical spin on things. The ending is rather abrupt and left off in a really terrible spot. There is a sequel that I will be reading. Mostly to see how they work out what happened at the end of this book. Because the ending basically makes everything that finally made sense by the end not make sense anymore... But it was a pretty good book. It’s on my recommended reads list! less
