review 1: Having heard most of this serialised on Radio 4 Extra, much of it was familiar. The title story itself is nicely done but hardly original as Mosse concedes in her authorial notes which accompany each short. Landscape plays a pivotal role throughout as does weather. Thankfully the tales presented are brief and a nicely digestible experience. Similar territory was visited in her earlier 'The Winter Ghosts' but this time the writing is more assured without the endless (and needless) levels of description.

Wonderful collection of creepy tales, however the first one is by far the best.
