review 1: What a great book! Even though it had some rather sad stories, I still really enjoyed it. Definitely one of my favourite short story novels I've read in a long time. I always love how authors intertwine history into their fiction and it was also interesting to learn of the different legends and myths that I never even heard of. Kudos to Kate Mosse, can't wait to dive into some of her other novels.
review 2: I haven't read any of Kate Mosse's full length novels. I bought this book as I love short story collections especially if they are haunting. A lot of the stories in this collection are haunting, my favorites being "The Mistletoe Bride" and "The Princess Alice". However some were a little boring and, I confess, I skipped to the next one. Although I liked most
... more of the stories, I don't feel inclined to buy the full length novels. less

A bit insipid but ok. Kind of to be expected from short stories. Quite a nice collection.
