review 1: Ce cinquième volume du Royaume des loups reprend précisément là où le précédent s’était arrêté. Après le blizzard et la famine, voilà Faolan et ses amis confrontés à un gigantesque tremblement de terre qui détruit tout le par-delà ou presque. Face au danger porte décidément bien son titre ! Les volcans sacrés entrent en éruption, le glacier se met en mouvement, détruisant inexorablement tout sur son passage, annihilant presque toute forme de vie, et permettant aux pires résidus de l’espèce de faire leur œuvre.Mais la destruction du charbon qui dormait dans le cercle sacré des volcans a également permis à une très ancienne prophétie de s’accomplir : le temps de la guérison est venu pour les malcadhs, et la patte tordue de notre héros s�... more�est redressée. C’est aussi l’occasion pour Faolan de faire à nouveau ses preuves en tant que leader, et d’affronter ses peurs car il n’en a pas encore fini avec les découvertes concernant sa propre histoire. Il va se découvrir une dimension tout à fait surprenante.D’ailleurs, le voyage vers le Pays Bleu, terre de tous leurs espoirs, va permettre à nos héros de faire quelques rencontres inattendues. On en apprend plus sur plusieurs personnages dans ce roman, et en particulier sur la Sark. Certains autres refont leur apparition, parfois transformés par les circonstances, comme Banja, Caila ou encore l’ourson Toby. Une communauté hétéroclite se forme autour de Faolan, apologie de l’entraide et de l’amitié pour déjouer toutes les difficultés.Encore une fois, c’est une lecture simple et rapide que Kathryn Lasky nous propose ici, une lecture que les plus jeunes apprécieront sans nul doute pour les valeurs qu’elle prône, l’amitié en tête, mais qui pourra sembler un peu simpliste dès lors qu’on atteindra une dizaine d’années, la dimension un petit peu métaphysique sur la condition de Faolan leur passant complètement à côté !

As Faolan, Mhairie, and Dearlea rush back to the Ring of Sacred Volcanoes, something extraordinary happens. Faolan's twisted paw rights itself, and is now as straight as it would have been if he had not been born Malcadh - cursed. Heep's tail has grown back, the hole in the Whistler's throat has closed, Banja now has two eyes. The Great Mending has begun. But for Edme, who was a Malcadh made, not born, she is still a wolf with only one eye thanks to the evil deeds of the chieftain of her pack, who ripped out her eye when she was a pup so she could be a gnaw wolf and one day join the watch. As the group rejoins one another, they begin a quest to leave the Beyond and find a new home, heading west with Faolan as their leader. Alone the way they meet old friends, including the bear cubs Toby and Burney who have been orphaned because of the earthquake, and they meet with a wolf who holds a place in the hearts of Faolan's sisters.
