review 1: Keeping my original review. I'm re-reading this because I need one of my favorite books now. Delving in and looking forward to losing myself in my favorite book of all time. Happy, happy, happy!Original review: This novel is 909 pages! Well, here goes!I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars. It is that good. This is, without a doubt, a truly amazing read! I was in medieval heaven. I cannot believe this is Kathryn Le Veque's first book. Nor can I believe it is 909 pages. They flew! It is a masterpiece. Never once was I bored or wanted to rush through pages to get to the good part. Every part was good. I'm so very pleased that nothing was cut out to make it an "average" book, page wise. Every bit of what happened was important and I relished and cherish... moreed all of it. The Epilogue was perfect! This book is going to be re-read by me many times and will be kept permanently on my Kindle. There is only one other book I have read that I keep permanently on my Kindle and re-read when I'm in need of something special. "Ransom" by Julie Garwood. This one will stand proudly alongside it. Now, I have two top favorite books of all time. Yep, they will share the spot. WOW! I'm still reeling. Fabulous!
review 2: Despite some editing issues (and not many that distracted), this was a great epic...It was like reading more than one story at a time....thinking that the length would be a deterrent for me, it was not. I am so pleased the author decided to release her manuscript as originally written. A fun romp along the English/Scottish border, a willful Scottish bride, a fearsome English knight, crazy, funny, loyal friends, fierce and menacing enemies, battles and war, death and birth.... and love love love everywhere... Hahahaha!! Loved it! less
