review 1: Emily and company arrive at the city of Cielis hopeful for help in their quest. Instead the people seem terrified and Emily finds herself participating in trials to join the council instead of speaking to them. Emily thinks there's something wrong but her mother insists that this is just part of life and to just do whatever she's told to. This, ultimately, ends up being a bad piece of advice. Instead of help, Emily finds herself at even more of a disadvantage but in knowing what she doesn't know she's better prepared to face what's ahead.
review 2: This series, unusually, just keeps getting better and better as shit just falls apart around the characters and pretty much nothing or no one can be trusted. Bleak and hopeless, this is a stand-out semi-kids' read.I
... morefigured it out, too, the best way to explain what makes this series so entertaining: imagine "Star Wars", the first trilogy, not that other ratcrap. Now, imagine that by the point we get to "Empire", having learned all we have about the Jedis and the Force and whatnot, right? Now, imagine that instead of what happened, that when Luke met Yoda, Yoda turned out to be evil as shit. This analogy sums up this series. less

A great twist in the story where everything is not what it seems.
