review 1: I loved this book. I fell in love with the character Kurt. He wanted to do the right thing and in the process he met Davy and something happened within that changed everything. Kurt's goodness lured me in and I decided that "this is the sort of man I want". His internal struggles added drama to the story and was realistic. Burn did a fantastic job writing this story and Tristan James' narration added so much to the characters. A great combination here. Though each character was struggling, there was a time I wanted to reach through my ear buds and slap the fool out of Davy...but I can understand some of his actions, it just didn't make me real happy. When you get caught up in the lives of the characters on a page, and consequently through the narration...you know it's a go... moreod book. I certainly recommend this book and I look forward to reading the next book in the series...
review 2: 4.5 stars after all. This was such an easy book to love and every single minute was just a joy! The natural progression in their friendship, Kurt’s slow GFY development, Davy slowly coming out of his shell – it was just enough angst, romance, sexiness, love, family – SO GOOD!! Although it’s only from Kurt’s POV, we can always sense that Davy wasn’t too far away in Kurt’s thoughts when he wasn’t in the same room as Davy. Once Kurt started feeling attraction and having a sexual reaction to Davy, it got even better! It was even entertaining when Kurt was at work or with his family when Simon or his mom and siblings started to notice his love-struck looks from thinking about Davy. I also have to add that I thought their first sexual encounter was steamy! It caught me by surprise, for one, and for another Davy was dominant and Kurt was overwhelmed and seemed too caught off guard that all he could do was enjoy the ride. It was quite emotional, passionate, and super aggressive. Check, check, and check! What more can we ask for?Don’t get me wrong I liked the ending, but I didn’t love how it was all wrapped up too quickly and it just didn’t feel right. The gap of time Davy ignored Kurt was too long and it seemed almost mean of Davy, which was a little uncharacteristic of him. I also didn’t love that the only reason Davy came back was because he thought Kurt might be dying and when he was ok, they declared their loved and then decided to move in together - in a blink of an eye! Too fast and not enough sweet romantic reconciliation for us to read through before we get to the epilogue. I liked the HEA feeling of the epilogue and also how it set up the third book. I’m already a fan of this series and look forward to the next 2 books and also more from this author! less
