review 1: Just as many others have said, a really good book ruined by a ridiculous ending. The Cuban Missile Crisis is tension filled enough, that had the author restrained himself from the boring old shoot em up at the end, the book would've been a really good weekend/beach read. Instead what you have is a passable novel that only scratches the surface of what it could've been. A word should be said of the writing style however. The author is well written and avoids the hard boiled cliches in his word choice.
review 2: Interesting premise...President Kennedy calls on former college friend Nate Michaels to help him secretly and peacefully resolve the Cuban Missile Crisis. Along the way, we learn the back story to the back story involving World war II, love rivalries, pol... moreitics and intrigue. Those of us who are old enough already know the majority of the cast of characters from having lived through that period in history. Over fifty years gone since that critical juncture in our past...how can that be? less
