review 1: I really liked this book. For being little, it has a lot of big stuff in it. And it's not just for new theologians. I need frequent reminders that theology is important for the every day. If I don't study theology in a proper and balanced way, then I may not know God or the Bible the way I should (or the way I think I do).Here is one of many good takeaways: "Genuine theology cultivates a spirituality of grace, humility, truth, gentleness, peace, patience and love (Gal 5:22-26). To separate theology and spirituality is to misunderstand, and eventually damage both."
review 2: This wasnt the most earth-shattering book, and thats okay. I thought Kapic did a good job explaining the difference between theology as an intellectual discipline and theology as a spiritual... more discipline. I'm glad to have read this at the beginning of my seminary career because I think it is a good tone to start off with. I loved.his chapters about how Christians should deal with the oppressed and how tradition informs our theology. less
