review 1: A much better read then the first. It seems like the author finally found her voice. The story flowed much more evenly. The book literally picks up right where the last left off, at the site where Tovin was killed. A few new character's are introduced in this book. My hope is that they stay around. I adored the Owlkins. Phineas helped make the story for me in so many ways. I actually thought there might be a triangle for awhile, but was ultimately glad their wasn't. This story actually had a better plot then last and bad guy was revealed a little at a time in a manner that was easier to follow. A lot of secrets that weren't formerly know to the reader about the characters themselves were told and it sheds a lot of light on my Evy & Wyatt turned out be the way they a... morere. the secrets added unexpected depth to the characters. There were a few problems that once again reared their ugly heads again. The fact that Evy was always instigating fights with Wyatt has always been an issue. I don't keep reading books that have make the romantic couple look like a bunch of idiots teens. I love you, I hate you, You hurt me, I forgave you, I keep bringing it up, I love you. UGH! Way to much nonsense. That's not romantic tension. Bring them together, keep them apart but damn well do something besides having them bicker and making the male look like a whipped puppy. Fortunately, there wasn't quite as much that this book as there were in the last. It definitely didn't overshadow the story, so for that reason I gave it 3.5 stars. if I can get my hands on the next book in the series then I'll read it.
review 2: Now that the awkward start from the first book is done with...the story really picked up and is no longer so hard to follow. The complexity is still there but now the characters and their actions are easier to understand and make this book much better than the previous. The creativity is still the main focus for me though because this plot is so new and veers to completely uncharted territory. There's new names and new societies to look forward to knowing regarding some old legends like vampires and weres but also new concepts regarding gremlins, goblins and others normally ignored in novels. I do find myself thoroughly enjoying this series. It's very captivating, dramatic and even often funny. less

I’m really liking this series. Evy kicks butt. Action-packed. A little romance. It’s all good.

The second book in the dreg series isn't as good as the first but it still keeps one entertained.

Eh, a tad better than the first but still slightly less than an average good read.
