review 1: As Lie the Dead is a magnificent urban fantasy story, and a great sequel to Three Days to Dead. It picked up right where Three Days to Dead left off. The transition from tragedy to humor, to happiness and danger is flawless and really hooks you in. Some parts were brutal, some parts were enjoyable, and some were just excruciating to read but nothing about this story was predictable. What I love about this is how everything feels so realistic; you'll find yourself being drawn to every character and every storyline that's presented. Everything just unfolds perfectly. You'd be doing yourself a disservice if you don't read this series. Highly recommended. 5/5 stars.
review 2: I've added this author to my to read list. I enjoyed the first book THREE DAYS TO DEAD, an
... mored the follow-up is action tense. As Lie the Dead starts right where Three Days to Dead left off. Right after the battle with Tovin. Evy is approached by Fin, a Therian (shape-shifter) of the owlkin clan that was decimated in the first book by the Triads. He demands protection for a very pregnant Aurora. The story line gets a little convoluted at times, especially when Leo, Chalice's very dead boyfriend's father shows up demanding answers to his son's whereabouts. The flashbacks to when Evy joined Wyatts team are fascinating, and we learn more about Evy's dead teammates in this book, and than the previous. The tension between Wyatt and Evy (in Chalice's former body), is finally answered in this book. My only problem with this book, was the timeline itself. Supposingly Evy is out of action for 12 hours, after having survived an attempt by a Triad Handler, and her crew. What's more, Evy is considered dead now by the Triad. This will be interesting to see how Ms Meding handles the next installment of the the Dreg City. less
