review 1: I really liked this one because it was an interesting situation. You always see people who know their role in the D/S community in books but to see how someone new enters that world was interesting. We got to see things from both sides. Marcus knows how his world works and little surprises him. Bret is new and learning but he makes it a point to find everything out so that he can get what he wants: Marcus' collar. Watching Bret and Marcus was fun for me because I honestly don't have a submissive bone in my body. Ask my mom. No matter how sweet or quiet people think I am, I don't follow meekly. Bret doesn't either. He is a total brat.... and Marcus comes to find out that he kinda loves it. The only thing that I found lacking was aftercare. Marcus showed serious a... morettention to details like safe words but I don't remember seeing much aftercare. I think that aftercare is seriously important in all relationships- BDSM ones or not. In BDSM it involves the Dominant caring for the submissive as they come out of subspace. Subspace being the emotional place that they go to during the scene. Marcus doesn't seem to give much in the way of care here. I think that may be the only thing that I found really lacking but it is important to a D/S relationship being believable to me.
review 2: Once a Brat is an exciting short read, but despite the novel being short it was full of kinky and naughty stuff I'm sure you'll love.Oh wow isn't this book a first time to me, I never thought I'd read a full detail short novel about this highly sexual topic - submissive and dominance. As much as I want to say it worked on me I would have to say it didn't, although I was a bit turned on for awhile but then again the subject matter isn't really for me. I don't want to actually go into details but this book is hot given a different perspective. I was looking for something different, something more that would let me connect with the characters. I'd like to say that this book has definitely thought me a thing or two about submission and dominance. But like I said, the thing isn't really for my taste. As raunchy and sexy this book can be, it needs a little more substance. The connection between the two characters is definitely there but I'd say it did affect me a little bit.Overall I think this book is hot and sexy, although the subject matter was new to me I did enjoy it some of the parts. I'd recommend this to you if you're looking for a good understanding about submission and dominance. This book was definitely an eye opener for me, it left a bit of an impression to me actually. less
