review 1: The Essence the second book to The Pledge shows Charlie the main character grow and become someone strong enough to be Queen. Even though the essence (hence the title) of Sabara the queen she took from the throne lives inside her. I really rnjoyed how Kimberly Derting protrays the essence inside Charlie. She portraits two characters and makes them one.Charlie has a journey inside her and figure if the evil is just Sabara of also within herself.
review 2: I did it. I finished it. Barely. Personaly, I did not like the series because the characters were boring and sometimes made me really annoyed. The book fluctuated,and there were some moments that I liked but I just couldn't get over the really bad ones. I didn't really care for the characters (and I really do... moren't care what happens to them in the end) and that is a sign from the book gods that I won't stick with the series.The series has amazing covers and I really wanted to like the books but I just couldn't and what I did read really dissapointed me.The plot sounded interesting but once you actually start reading it you notice that someone is trying to kill her (REPEATEDLY!) but isn't good enough to actually kill her. Also, they ride a lot. And when I say a lot, I mean A LOT!They get on the train. They get off the train. They get on a horse. They get off the horse. They get on the boat. They get off the boat. Then they go to the castle and leave the castle shortly after. Guess what happens then? They get back on the horse and the boat and the fucking train. Kimberly Derting, I hope The Body Finder isn't as horrible as this fucking series. less
