review 1: I wasn't sure I fancied this series, mainly because I find vampire stories can get a little too complicated with all of the rules and legends vamps have to abide by, but it was a KA and a couple of reviewers mentioned alphas so I decided to go for it.Flip me this was good. It had all of the usual elements that make for an absorbing KA read - the reluctant woman won over by the protective, hawt, alpha, the jeopardy, the smut - but all set in a world where vamps live alongside humans, a world that seemed completely plausible and real thanks to KA' s writing.I have to give a special mention to the smut in this. The chemistry was hot, the romance sweet but omg the smut was off the page. For some reason the vamp feeding from their mate read like an incredibly sensuous, erotic e... morexperience; when the vamp was simultaneously feeding and bumping uglies with his mate....just read it, really, you'll see exactly what I mean. This is a complete story, but there is unfinished business so I'm reading on with the next book. Highly recommended.
review 2: Reading this book has re-ignited my love for paranormal romance! It's been a while since I read one and I couldn't put this book down! I also love that it's a meaty, solid book that you can really savour, as it gives time for the story to develop fully.I love this author's writing and this book didn't disappoint! I enjoyed reading about the key characters and the relationship development between Leah and Lucien. There's attraction, passion, misunderstanding and, ultimately, love - with a good dose of mystery thrown in.Would definitely recommend! less
