review 1: I don't know how I stumbled across this book, but I'm glad I did. I thought it was well-written and well-paced. I liked the author's portrayal of the detectives - real characters who I look forward to seeing more, assuming this is the first of a series. I listened to this on audio and was torn; I didn't want the book to end as I was enjoying it, but I did want it to end because I wanted to find out how everything wrapped up. I would rate this 3.5 if I could.
review 2: Excellent first installment in a new series by a promising new writer from Sweden. I listened to this on audio, and got lots of crocheting done, because I couldn't tear myself away from the story. Tight mystery with a convincing red herring, a police investigation that's believable and interest... moreing subplots. But what made me love this is the writing. So often good mysteries are page turners, but I only tolerate the writing. But not here. Ohlsson's writing is excellent with great character development, resulting in complex rather than stereotypical characters. Loved it, and I'll go looking for more. less
