review 1: This is a great book about what I like to read about the most. Dysfunctional families and how they interact with one another and the world. I thought the characters were fully developed and having Mira as the "hippie mother matriarch" gives the book a unique perscepctive. If you are looking for a fast paced book with a quick storyline, this is not your book. This book is a descriptive tale of the everyday journies of life.
review 2: Real Life and Liars is the story of a family's weekend celebration of the parents' 35th wedding anniversary. Her three adult children and their families are there, and the events of the weekend affec
... moret how they react to their mother's news and how she plans to deal with the cancer when they finally find out. I enjoyed this book tremendously - you'd think it would be quite depressing but it's actually not; however it does make one think about one's own mortality and how a cancer diagnosis would affect the rest of the family. less
