review 1: 4 Stars ~ When a letter written forty years before is delivered to her address, Phoebe is compelled to see that it gets into the hands it was intended for. Tate isn't the one the letter belongs to, but he's quite happy to meet beautiful Phoebe and her adorable daughter. But when he realizes the letter is actually for his father, he shuts down and pushes Phoebe away. When Phoebe finally delivers the letter to the right Tate, she finds a lonely man full of regrets. He asks her to read the letter to him, and in it is revealed the true answer to a love that was thought to have been rejected those many years before. Unable to bear the sadness in both father and son, Phoebe stubbornly nudges until both have to confront their pasts and move forward. Only in the nudging, P... morehoebe is caught in the middle and finds her own heart breaking. While Ms. Bradford has written many cozy mysteries, this is her first romance. The mystery letter is a wonderful storyline that had me needing to learn it's secrets just as strongly as it had Phoebe. I loved her persistence and once it was delivered, I admired her drive to make things right both between father and son and the lost lovers. Quinton Lane comes to life with every detail of the people who live there both from the past and in the present, becoming as vital to the story as any character. Tate and Phoebe make a wonderful couple though Ms. Bradford does make them work hard for their HEA. Ms. Bradford is a talented storyteller, one I'm looking forward to reading more from
review 2: The heroine and hero meet when the heroine receives a forty year old letter for a man who lived at her address prior to her moving. So she contacts the hero, thinking the letter belongs to him only to find out it belongs to the heroes father. When the heroine meets the heroes father, she helps him sort out his life, which in turn only makes the hero angry. After the hero and heroes father make amends, the hero begs the heroine for forgiveness.Yet another fairy tale type book. There was virtually no conflict but it was sweet to read. less
