A Scrapbooking Mystery
review 1: This mystery is one of the best of the series. In one of New Orleans' oldest churches, a church volenteer was murdered trying to save an antique crucifix and Ava and the main character, Carmella are witness to it. The lady that was murdered was a dear friend of Carmella's scrapbooking circle so Carmella feels that she must help investigate even though her boyfriend, Det. Babcock wishes she would get involved. There are plenty of suspects and nasty characters to keep your interest.
review 2: This review is from: Skeleton Letters (A Scrapbooking Mystery) (Mass Market Paperback) I have read every one of Laura Childs Tea shop mysteries and enjoyed them all very much. So I finally decided to try one of her scrapbooking mysteries. This is my first one in that series.
... moreI found "Skeleton Letters" to get off to a good start with a horrifying murder taking place before Carmela's and Ava's very eyes within the darkness of St. Tristan's church. The murderer appeared to be cloaked in a dark brown hooded cape much like the attire a monk would wear. And so Carmela and Ava find themselves at the center of a murder mystery. If that's not enough the victim is more than just and acquaintance of Carmela's...she's a member of her scrapbooking circle as well as a dear friend. This author is quite a gifted writer. This mystery began as a wonderful story that flowed throughout. The storyline and characters held my interest as the activity continued at a steady pace. The ending was not the best from this author. The reasoning behind the murders did not satisfy me,the reader and it is for that reason I gave this mystery a 3 star rating.I will continue to follow this author and look forward to reading her mysteries again. less
