review 1: The first two books in this series were a real joy. So when I heard that book 4 was the fan favourite, I decided to skip on over to it. Honestly? It was okay. If I hadn't read books one and two, I would have liked it a lot more. But those were so lovely, so sumptuous, with wonderfully written characters and intense emotions. This hit those beats too, but in a more formulaic way for me. Jaime and Dominique didn't have the depth or breadth of character that the other couples had. It's a perfectly good read, I just found it pale in comparison with what Florand had already written.
review 2: My favorite romance of the series. I read this book in one sitting, which I haven't done in a LONG, long time. I especially enjoyed the heroine and hero, Jaime and Dominique
... more. They were incredibly likable and vulnerable. The author does a grand job of avoiding all of the reigning pitfalls of romance: impossible villains, characters that are TSTL, impossible pride and abhorant communication skills. One of the best features of this series is the presence of the chef's kitchen. The heat, rhythm, communication, teamwork and aggression is portrayed incredibly well in Amour et Chocolat. There was less cooking and kitchen time featured in this installment which would normally be a disappointment for me, but I'm okay. The passionate and tender love story more than made up for the loss. less
