review 1: In 1779, when genteel Virginia spinster Roxanna Rowan arrives at the Kentucky fort commanded by Colonel Cassius McLinn, she finds that her officer father has died. review 2: I wanted a bit more history and less romance. I expected it would be something à la The Patriot but instead it got too 'romance-y'. I quickly lost patience with the heroine half way through. I liked her fair enough at the beginning but in the end she made stupid decisions (just for the purp... moreose to create conflict).
