review 1: "Out" is a thought - provoking read. Many people seem to find the story controversial and offensive. Controversial, yes. Offensive, I don't think so. Laura Preble does a fine job of making us look at our own society through the guise of this twisted future reality. What happens in "Out" can be seen in our own past and most certainly, albeit somewhat hidden, in our present. I found the premise to be quite interesting and I found myself wanting to know more about how our society ended up this way. In that light, I found myself wishing this book was either longer or part of a series. So many nuances and hints into how our culture shifted were given but not fully explained. I desperately wanted to know how the shift happened. While I didn't mind being on Chris's journey with... more him, there were times when he just seemed too... dumb. I could be completely wrong but I feel like a 17 year old kid whose father is a prominent figurehead would have more of a clue about what was going on. Normally I can't help but to roll my eyes at love at first sight scenarios, but I was willing to look past it in this case because it seemed to me more of a first love instance than love at first sight. We can all remember that first person who really made us feel sexually alive. That seemed to be more the case in this book and I appreciated that the relationship wasn't tied up in a pretty little bow at the end. On a completely separate note, there were some significant editing errors that really distracted me as I read. I felt a little disappointed that they hadn't been caught. Overall, I enjoyed this book and though it had some holes, it left me wanting to know more and that is a wonderful thing.
review 2: I think a lot of people get uppity about stuff ...because we have the internet and people like to complain. People like to think they are right and forget everything else. Being as I don't read many books books now a days and read more stuff like Batman Death of a Family and Dead pool. It wasn't the greatest book rising to top of my list, but a good well written book. I am almost done, haven't even finished, but figured I should throw my two cents in to counteract all the verbal diarrhea spilling from peoples minds and into their fingertips. At times I did feel like I had to be a young adult to be reading this book. I knew I would prolly feel that way but read on, keeping an open mind. I know the idea of such a thing prolly shocks many others. From some of these reviews...I'm sorry I have no time to explain to you what an open mind is...this is a book review dangnabbit It's a good role reversed life read. Written well enough to where I actually cared about the characters and what is transpiring and they don't even have mutant powers, or utility belts. Has this been done before? Maybe? Like I said, usually I read X men and Avengers..but I really haven't seen anything homophobic, more so I see an author trying to give us a perspective on how gays and whatnot are treated today. Wasn't bad at all, taken really no time at all to read, except I was jumping between this and the latest Justice Leagues..haha...I just don't see someone not picking this up because a lot of people who haven't read the book want to demonize it. Reminds me of this news article where this Michael Jackson Biography was seen as not showing the "Angelic" Michael Jackson in a good light. His fans took to amazon and got the book scathing reviews without having even read the book. It's impressive what idiots will actually get off their asses to do. Anyways ..yeah gonna finish this book now and move on Cause it has put me behind in my comics this week but gets four out of five stars. Now time to explore trhis good reads more...Are graphics novels in this bitch? less

No. Just no. Burn it to the ground and salt the earth afterwards so it can never rise again.

Please don't let this be a gay version of Save the Pearls/Revealing Eden.

I thought it was really good! All the bad reviews are too literal.
