review 1: Every once in awhile, a book cover will catch my attention. For some reason, that is what happened with Lauraine Snelling’s Heaven Sent Rain. The woman wearing the pristinely white jacket with a red jacket had me wondering what her story was. The cover almost makes her seem mysterious. I was easily sympathetic towards the boy and dog sitting on a bench getting wet. I couldn’t help but what to know what their story was as well.It took me awhile to get drawn into this story, but once I did, I enjoyed watching the story unfold. Lauraine Snelling leaves a lot of questions unanswered about Dinah’s past. Curiosity drove me to keep reading. As I continued reading, the struggles we have with our faith become quite evident. Sometimes it has to do with grief, and others it is ... moreour own stubbornness to believe that God really does want the best for us. Jonah was definitely a favorite character of mine. The romance factor was definitely not a big player in this story. The majority of the novel was focused on the relationship that forms between Dinah and Jonah. Each character does go through a number of changes, but they are subtle. While the story wasn’t necessarily a page turner, it did have a certain spiritual depth to it. For that reason, I did enjoy the book. It was just a bit slow to get through at times, but in the end, I did get the answers to my questions about the cover of the book.**I received a free copy of this book from Faithwords/Center Street and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review**
review 2: This book wasn't as good as the others in my opinion. The story tended to drag, the characters weren't quite as developed as the in the others, and the book needed some good editing. I felt that the story kept going over the same problems again and again with no real hint of any resolution. But all of a sudden, within a few dozen pages of the end, everything is revealed and magically resolved. Really? less

Cute. Loved the no-nonsense Dinah and the way God got a hold of her heart.
