Wrapped Up in Love
review 1: Jess Leighton is a pre-med student paying her own way through college by being a paparazzi photographer. She is determined, independent and a major control freak with all aspects of her life. Jess is trying to get the money shot of a celebrity wedding that is completely under wraps so that she can put it towards her education and her dream to be a doctor.William Harrigan is studying in California on a student visa that is soon to expire unless he lands a job that will keep him from being deported. He is willing to do almost anything to stay in L.A., including deceiving the only person who might be able to help him live his dream. When the attraction between the two become too much, will they have to choose between each other and their dreams? Or will everything have a hap... morepy Hollywood ending? This was such an awesome read and the concept was out of the box. Jess is totally an over-achiever, control freak who is totally obsessed with Hollywood gossip. Since she is putting herself through school she makes quick money by being a part-time paparazzo. Jess is instantly attracted to William, but fights it to make sure that she doesn’t lose any control over her life. “William made me feel wanted, and he made me want to let go for him, which was no easy feat for this control freak.”As much as Jess fights William, he will not back down on their chemistry. William is trying to do anything to stay in California and meeting Jess is just the icing on top of his bad situation. He will do anything to have a chance with her, but he’s also keeping his own secrets. Will Jess be able to overlook them?I loved that this was an out of the box theme for the book. The fact that Jess stalks celebrities for their photos to make money is just something I never read about before. While I loved the concept, there was so much going on with the celebrities that I felt it got a little confusing and took away a little bit from the story. I gave this 4 out of 5 stars and I definitely want to see where this series goes.****A copy was gifted for an honest review****
review 2: There are two things in life that I love over almost all others: books and movies. While reading Lauren Blakely's Stars in their Eyes, I felt as though the story were tailor made for me, with its fun and creative blend of fantasy and reality. Stars in their Eyes immerses the reader into the world of the paparazzi, detailing anything and everything you could want to about a day in the life of celebrity photography, Jess Leighton and the not-so-glamorous side of the entertainment industry - a side that is often portrayed as seedy and opportunistic in the media. The movie buff in me thoroughly enjoyed getting a glimpse at the inner workings of the film business, as viewed through our heroine. Throw in a plot filled with intrigue and a romance with sweet and sexy Brit, William Harrigan, and you have the makings of a story fit for the big screen. With her obsession with all things pop culture, her weakness for cute guys with accents, and her tendency to make sense of life in terms of movies, Jess is my literary soul mate. She is a no-nonsense, driven individual in all aspects of her life and her need for complete control finds her attempting to resist William’s advances, but to no avail. Jess and William’s unrestrained passion for one another is an all-consuming force, drawing you in to their burgeoning romance. Their rapid-fire repartee, sizzling chemistry, and zest for adventure, cast Jess and William as modern-day versions of the old Hollywood couples that sparked Jess's love of movies. There is a short list of authors that I can honestly say that I've read and adored every single one of their books and Lauren Blakely is one such author. The reason for this is her incredible versatility and her ceaseless efforts to improve on her already impeccable writing. Not only does she create three dimensional characters and provide complete access into their most private moments, but she actively challenges these characters in their professional and romantic lives, encouraging continued growth over the course of the narrative. As with any Lauren Blakely book, Stars in their Eyes features cameos from past protagonists, creating deeper connections between the author's works as a whole - a fact that I appreciate more because I have read all her books.*complimentary copy provided by author in exchange for an honest review less
