review 1: In 1916 there were some shark attacks off the shores of New Jersey, as well as in a river that fed to the ocean. In this retelling, 10-year-old Chet comes frighteningly close to becoming one of the victims. Chet is staying with his Uncle while his parents go to California to look for work. Chet quickly makes friends, and while he misses his parents terribly, his uncle takes good care of him and he enjoys spending time with his new friends--until a prank goes too far. Will the friendship be saved? This is the first "I Survived" book I've read, but I can see why they are so popular with my 4th and 5th grade students. The characters are realistic, the situations real, and the stories compelling and exciting. Back matter contains information about the actual events that... more the story is based on. Recommended for readers who like sharks, adventure, and stories about friends and family. Gr. 3-5.
review 2: The Shark Attack of 1916 of the I Survived books was one of the best for this point that I will find the other books and figure out what their connected too.For this reason, that I would like this book more better than the other books of the I Survived because the reason is that it has comedy,action,nonfiction,and it’s historical.Therefore without a doubt,I conclude that I will finish all of the I Survived books that is my dream reading.But this book grabbed me that I want to read until the end of the book which I did but not the point of this review but the real point is that I Survived books is historical fiction that means that it has real events that happened in the past like for example Shark Attack of 1916,Revolutionary War,World War 1 and 2,Vietnam War,and other events that happened but one thing was not nonfiction about the historical fiction. Is that there characters was not nonfiction because mostly authors used historical fiction,nonfiction,and fiction or other book types for the background of the story,the action,and other things like that.Back to the book,this book was amazing that the book title gras you and don’t let go the reason is that the book inside were sentences is that it brings you the action first then it gets back where it all started.In conclussion without a doubt,I conclude that the I will read all the I Surived books when i mean all i meant all of them. less
