review 1: Not only does this book portray the difficulties of life for veterans with PTSD and the people around them, it also maintains Laurie Halse Anderson's excellent and honest perspective on high school and teenage life. I connected with this book on many levels. As someone who is connected to a veteran with PTSD, my only wish is that it offered a bit more on how to help people with PTSD on a daily basis through things like emotional support, conversations and the like. ... moreher than the ending, I really enjoyed this. The teen dialogue (although Hayley got a little too teen-angsty for me at times, her whole freaks v. zombie thing), Andy's flashbacks, and I also noticed and appreciated the little digs at public education today. Leave it to LHA to once again bring up a known-but-taboo topic like PTSD and give it life. less
