review 1: So I am not super observant and was quite a ways in before I realized that not only is this a simile book, it is also an ABC book.Love the illustrations. And the examples of similes were interesting (and can definitely see some writing activities) ... it's just that many of them I had never heard before. Have a feeling most of the kids wouldn't have, either. Does that matter? Not sure.
review 2: Lawlor, Laurie Muddy As A Duck Puddle and other American similies, 32 pages, Holiday House; Language~G, Sexual Content~G; Violence~PGDo you remember the definition of a simile? For those who don’t remember here is a basic definition: “a figure of speech that compares two different things, actions, descriptions, or feelings. Most similes are introduced by as or l
... moreike.” This book takes the reader through an alphabet of similes. Some are familiar and others are confusing. However, even if you don’t quite get the simile, the wonderful illustrations by Ethan Long help you to understand what is being compared. This book will be an excellent tool for anyone teaching similes, but I don’t see it gaining wide appeal among your average reader.ELM OPTIONAL Allison Madsen~Teen Librarian-SJO Public Librarian less

Very cute book, loved the illustrations. Had different phrases for each letter of the alphabet.

Big stretch for similes but a good teacher tool.
