review 1: I got my free copy of this book in 2011 and – looking at all the positive reviews – I’m guessing their copy of this book was probably edited properly. My copy of this book, unfortunately, is in SERIOUS need of editing. In its current state it looks like it was written by a fifth grader. I tried reading this book, but five pages into it I was so confused and so tired of trying to fix all the tenses and trying to make sense of the narrative, that I just gave up. So, I can’t tell you if this is a good story or not, but looking at other reviews on here it probably is. I won’t know because deciphering an author’s writing while trying to read her book, is just no fun. I admire anyone who endeavors to write a book. I know it isn’t easy, so I’m not trying to insult... more the author. Not at all. I hope to one day read a properly edited version of this book.
review 2: I really liked this book. I don't know why but I always enjoy reading about those women who had to spend a good part of their life traveling across the country in a wagon. That was realy rouging it. Think I have it bad, never! This one was about a women who had to have a husband in order to travel to her father. They had separated, she went to Boston to an Aunt's home and her Father had gone west. She was told she was to marry a young man her father had helped out with his schooling, and that he would bring her west. She hoped it would be a good marriage, only to find the man didn't like her didin't want anything to do with her nad wanted an annulment as soon as they reached their destination on the other side of the Rockies. She is well versted by a mother and grandmother in healing with herbs and the oils from plants. She becomes a really good nurse/doctor to everyone in the train. There are some Christian over tomes in the book bu they absolutely weren't offensive or too pushy just a part of the story. I found her travels so intersting and the usage of the oils and herbs that she used along hte way. Of course she has to find true love but I'll leave that up to you to find out! less
