review 1: Number 19 in the Reacher series and this one is not the best but I gave it 3 stars on principal because I enjoy the series so much. The format seemed different, less action, more introspection and explanation, which might be OK considering the "personal" feel. I must agree with some other reviewers that this one seemed weak in plot, character development, and narration. I was disturbed throughout by what seemed like a slip of fact early in the story, and that detail turned out to be a majer plot twist at the end. For me to catch it early shows how lazy the plot development was. (I usually take things at face value. :) Still, I enjoy the premise and the series and hope for more.
review 2: I think this was a good change of scene for Reacher. He gets to travel an
... mored much of the book takes place overseas where he has to interact with other Reacher-esque individuals. He is called back into service but becomes very intrigued with the case because it becomes, yes "Personal" to him. There was the usual action involved but Reacher is faced with an enemy this time who dwarfs HIM, another unusual situation for him. I enjoyed reading the latest Reacher and can't wait for the next one. less
