review 1: "Creating Magic" is a fairly easy-to-read book on leadership. My favorite parts were where Lee Cockerell gave specific examples of the ways his suggested strategies played out in the day-to-day operations at Disney World or his previous jobs, and I did find tips and tricks that, while seemingly obvious, were good reminders and the context was helpful. There were times when the book seemed *too* singular in its vision - I think grooming is such a flexible thing in the modern professional world, as tattoos, dyed hair and piercings are far more widespread and diverse, and emphasis placed on this seemed a bit out of touch to me. But overall, I'm glad I read this and I found some things I intend to apply to my day-to-day management style.
review 2: For a book I was
... moremade to read before a work retreat, this was actually pretty interesting. Filled with plenty of anecdotes to illustrate his points, this business leadership guide truly held my attention. I loved the story about the child who lost their tooth as it really told how much the Disney employees will go the extra mile. It also made me want to work for Disney! My love for making people's day called out to me. How great would it be to get to put a smile on people's faces everyday and it be part of the company policy? less
