review 1: I was loaned this book because I am a huge fan of Lee Strobel's Christian apologetical books. However, didn't know if a work of fiction would hold up as well as the nonfiction. I would say the novel isn't too bad. Strobel tells an exciting story by drawing on his experience as a member of a megachurch and former career as a court journalist. The writing itself could be more nuanced and longer to develop characters and events more thoroughly, but it works fine. As a Christian, i like the tension within the pastor about what is the best path to make the most difference for God.
review 2: Took me a couple chapters to get into it and I had to keep flipping back to keep the cast of characters straight, but once I got into it I loved it! I found myself talking
... moreto the characters wondering how they could be so ridiculously dumb or congratulating them when they did a smart thing. So, I guess you could say, Mr. Stroebel succeeded in making his characters the type of people you cared about. Keeps the reader turning pages, especially mid-way through the book when you've got the story down and you want to see how Eric Snow, Garry Strider and Art Bullock will handle the situation. less

It was pretty good. The finish was just a tad weak.
