review 1: I really liked this story, but was a bit confused about the 11 year old's point of view - sometimes it is too advanced to be realistic, and at other times I found myself getting frustrated by how dense and overly innocent she seemed. (maybe this is realistic? I only know a few 11 year olds!)The plot moves along quickly enough and is interesting. I couldn't put the book down once I was halfway through. Great ending.
review 2: Lesley Kagan definitely has a formula that she follows. This book is very similar to her other novels 'Whistling in the Dark' and 'Good Graces'. I found the narrative in 'Tomorrow River' to be so similar that I had to check the book jacket to see if this was the third in the series about Troo and Sally.I was bored with this book the whole w
... moreay through because I felt that I had been there, read that, with the author's other two novels. Since the writing and the themes were so similar, I felt that there was nothing exciting to be discovered in the pages.I thought about abandoning this book, but it is extremely rare for me to abandon a book once I have started it, so I stuck it out.I'm excited to move on to other things and I don't think I will try another Lesley Kagan for a long, long time. less

What a wonderful lyrical writer. Kagen really captured the period of the late sixties.
