review 1: This was an enjoyable book. I was attracted by the crime solving by talking to dead people aspect of the story, but there wasn't as much of that as I expected and would have liked to read. I'm not big on stories about demons, one reason is that the books tend to have a good bit of violence. This had a pretty scary battle with portents of more to come. It wasn't overdone, but more action than I wanted.
review 2: I enjoyed reading this book, but something was missing to make it a great read. The first page had me immediately hooked, but then I had to go through a couple of chapters until I actually felt compelled to finish it. There were several page turning moments along the way, but the solution to each of them came too fast to build up real emotion about what ... moreI was reading (I'm reading a lot, so I might have just gotten picky). One of the plot points was so obvious that I found it astonishing that the main character Tiff didn't realize what was happening right away. Setting that aside I found the main characters Tiff and Royal likable and the story enjoyable enough to spend an afternoon on the sofa with. less
