review 1: I really like this series. It is full of action, adventure and wonderful well written characters. I love that they are quick reads not full of the boring filler so often found in books these days. The only problem I am having , (and what kept this from being a 5 star read) .There is little to no growth in the main characters attitude. She repeatedly is told in the first two books that being human makes her vulnerable. She is repeatedly beat to a pulp by non-humans. Does she ever learn from this…….NO! She does not! This has become very irritating and predictable. I caught myself eye rolling as she smarted off AGAIN to someone who could kill her with a blink of an eye. In fact , Its starting to be unreasonable that someone hasn’t killed her yet. If she doesn’t show ... morea little growth in the next book I likely will call it quits on this series which is sad because this was a great premise, with wonderful characters. In books , as in life , we are expected to LEARN from our mistakes. We are expected to grow and mature as life leads us down twist and turns. I am all for a spitfire , with attitude who can take care of herself. I DON’T endorse one who just cant learn from her mistakes and keeps making the same ones over and over.
review 2: Of all of the books in the Whispering series, Dead Demon Walking is the best. It was chocked full of mystery, romance, action and intrigue. It also answered some lingering questions from the second book.In this installment, Tiff receives a phone call from one of the detectives at the Clarion P.D. He informs her that someone is asking about the status of an old missing person case involving Tiff's ghost of a roommate, Jack. This leads to one of many mysteries being revealed about Jack's past.Next, while on vacation with Royal, the FBI approaches Tiff for her assistance with a series of mass murders and she discovers that she knew one of the victims. This leads to an encounter with Gia Sabato from book 2 and the Dark Cousins.I do not want to say too much because I do not want to spoil the book for anyone. However, the reason this book is so much better than the first two was because we actually saw Tiff battle the bad guy instead of talk. It was very much needed since the last book was rather anti-climatic. Read this book. It truly was very good. My only complaint was the ending. less
